Private to Professor Flitwick

Professor-

I was talking to Padma Patil this morning in the journals, and since she didn't know anything about her mom at Mungo's, I offered to ask my mom for her.

Mom just wrote and said that Padma's mom was killed. Is that something I should tell her myself? I don't know what to do.

If you want me to tell Padma, I will, of course.

This is not your duty as a member of staff, but if you're capable, I think you should deliver the news. You offered to ask your mother, and honestly I think you should be willing to tell Padma what you learned. The decision is yours.

You might not be aware, but Padma has a twin sister, Parvati, in Gryffindor. If you choose to tell Padma about their mother, I would recommend you ask Padma whether she will tell her sister, or whether Minerva should do so. I expect Padma will want to do that herself.

I know this is a difficult situation for you, Chris. Again, if you need me to tell Padma, I will, but one of us should let her know as quickly as possible.
